Questions 7 and 8 from our series about the top ten questions on selling a car online are above. If you have missed any of the series, click the following for Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. And off we go for Part 4!
We will basically outline the steps, as Part 1 covers these in detail.
1) Documentation! The number one and most important step when selling your vehicle, be it online, privately or even trading it in with a dealership. You will need all relevant paperwork, being the title, current vehicle registration and any warranty or service plans. If the vehicle is financed, you will need your lender’s name, account number and contact person.
2) Prepare the Car by cleaning the car inside and out to make it more attractive to potential buyers. Consider getting a professional detailing service if needed.
3) Capture clear well-lit photos of the vehicle from several different angles without any other distractions in the photos, such as garage clutter, other vehicles, garbage bins, etc.
4) Choose a reputable online platform to sell your vehicle, as all online car buying companies ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL! Car Buyer USA buys cars from consumers nationwide with preferred facilities in all major cities across the United States. We are bonded, licensed and insured as a motor vehicle dealer with an A rating from the Better Business Bureau. If you decide to sell privately, you will need to create a listing using the platform's listing tool to create an engaging listing for your car. Include the photos, description, and asking price.
5) Respond to Inquiries and be prompt in responding to all inquiries from potential buyers. Provide additional information as needed and schedule test drives if requested, but please remember that safety is of the utmost importance! NEVER go alone to meet with potential buyers and always meet in a public place.
Scams! Many fall victim to scams daily and avoiding scams can be easy if you are prepared. Always use well known and reputable online platforms to list your car. Avoid using obscure or unfamiliar websites that may not have robust security measures in place. Be wary of buyers who are overly eager to purchase your car without seeing it in person. Scammers may use fake cashier's checks or money orders to pay for the car. When meeting with potential buyers, choose a safe and public location to conduct the transaction. Avoid meeting in secluded areas or at night.
Always trust your instincts, you know that nagging gut feeling! If something feels off or too good to be true, trust what you feel and proceed with caution. It's better to be safe than sorry. Avoid sharing sensitive personal information, such as your home address or financial details, with potential buyers until you are confident in their legitimacy. And lastly, consider using secure payment methods such as PayPal or escrow services that offer buyer and seller protection. Always verify the payment method before releasing the car to the buyer. Cash is the safest form of payment, but if you accept a check or money order, make sure it clears before completing the sale. Easy way to safeguard yourself is to set the meeting place at either their bank or your bank when a check is involved.
Safety and convenience is important to Car Buyer USA and we strive to make the sale of your vehicle quick and easy from start to finish. Paperwork, photos and documentation are handled through our secure customer portal and payment to the seller is preferred by funding via bank wire transfer directly to your bank account. However, under some circumstances, we will issue a check and ship it overnight via FedEx. Car Buyer USA is committed to making your car selling experience easier and more convenient than ever.
