We listed a car on CarGurus.com to see what kind of action they had on the site. They are expert automotive bloggers and the site has lots of traffic so we figured it was worth a try- besides it’s FREE so why not?
I repeat….FREE
We listed the car and then we got an email that in order to “validate” our listing we needed to take a picture of the car with a pair of socks on the hood to prove that we really exist and that we really have the car and we aren’t scammers. So here is the picture of the 2013 Land Rover Sport with “socks” on the hood to prove we have the car (Harley in background, messy garage included). My point in sharing this story…does it really have to be this difficult? Is there really so much scam activity on FREE AUTO LISTING websites that they have to resort to this kind of thing to curtail the programming bots that create hundreds of bogus listing each day to “phish” for unsuspecting auto shoppers?
The answer is yes and yes again. It is a PITA to sell your car yourself online and the free auto listings sites are riddled with scammers. You can still sell your car yourself and do it the easy way by calling CarBuyerUSA.
We come to you, funds are guaranteed and we may not be good looking but we are real, reputable people that will treat you right!
